LAO-Le Arti Orafe at “Giardino di Daniel Spoerri”

LAO-Le Arti Orafe promotes cultural tours among the students to illustrate history, traditions and culture of Italy and Tuscany. Every year LAO -Le Arti Orafe organizes a whole day journey in some beautiful and particular places.
This year, students could visit the wonderful Giardino di Daniel Spoerri close to the small village Seggiano, among the hills and the tuscan country. The guided tour illustrated life and the artist work through the most important works and objects, not only by Daniel Spoerri but als by artists and friends who spent some time in their life in that garden with Daniel.
“At the beginning of the Nineties the Swiss Artist Daniel Spoerri started to establish a sculpture garden in the South of Tuscany, 80 km south from Siena: “Il Giardino di Daniel Spoerri”. It has been opened for the public in 1997 and can hence be visited from Easter until October. By now there are 112 installations by 55 artists in an area of about 16 ha. Since 1997 “Il Giardino di Daniel Spoerri” is an officially accepted foundation.”
During the afternoon we had a guided tour at  Argiano, an historical estate and cellar : “the Argiano estate develops around the nucleus of buildings, extending across an area of about 125 hectares, occupied by vineyards, olive groves and woods.
Access to the estate is via roads marked by traces of flavours and dusts that date back centuries and which intersect unique atmospheres and panoramas: the peace of the countryside, with its characteristically slow pace, wide open spaces, ever-changing seasons and alternating colours, while man carries out his daily work with the utmost respect for the environment and for the elements of the landscape”. A cellar tour to discover how Brunello di Montalcino wine is produced to close the journey with Argiano wines and food tasting.  “In the estate’s historical cellar, that, since the 16th century, its wines have rested at constant temperature and humidity, away from the light and noise, bringing the quality of every single bottle produced to a level of excellence.”
Even if the weather was not sunny and perfectly fine, we spent a beautiful day dedicated to art and “convivium”and, of course, a learning experience for our students coming from many countries and who could know the world around their school.
