A self-taught goldsmith, in 1985, obeying an instinctive impulse without having other special skills except my reckless propensity to measure myself against new experiences, I started “Le Arti Orafe”, a laboratory-school the first of its kind in Italy. Its unexpected and immediate success led me to reduce my work as a jeweller to dedicate myself entirely to the school, create contents, programmes and timetables, find other teachers and set up new areas. My work with classes year after year has enabled me to expand exponentially my technical and theoretical knowledge in various areas of jewellery. In 2000. I created an exhibition space centred on contemporary research, the first gallery dedicated to jewellery in Florence, and in 2005 I set up the project “PREZIOSA – Contemporary Jewellery Exhibition”, an international event dedicated to the promotion of contemporary jewellery, which in 2015 transformed into “FLORENCE JEWELLERY WEEK” (FJW).
