LAO is the best place in Italy to learn both the techniques and the concepts relating to the planning and design of jewellery. Thanks to the teaching programmes developed over the years and the professionalism of our teachers, the school can offer various courses to allow every student to quickly learn the techniques for graphical representation of jewellery.
Students in the design courses are encouraged to use the knowlege and skills acquired during the lessons to develop their personal creativity. The most important quality for a designer is not just technical skills, important as they are – what makes the difference is the ability to develop projects for use in one-off objects or collections.
Starting from initial sketches every student has to develop their own lines or collections which will be assessed by the teachers and school administrators.

The two-year course is the main course, and leads to the LAO Diploma with a wide-ranging, complete programme, both practical and theoretical.
Students in the design courses attend technical and theoretical lessons that enable them to imagine and then draw realistic representations of both individual objects and collections.
The ability to produce technical drawings and photographic renderings constitutes the strength and independence of every designer.
However, the ability to develop a concept and measure yourself against companies and colleagues in a work briefing remains fundamental.
From the sketch and the technical design, the students move on to colouring with watercolour or other quick, effective tools such as biro or charcoal. In this way everyone is encouraged to adopt the method they prefer. While sharing the same working theme, each person creates their own jewellery, according to their own preferences, in the style they want.
Students who attend a six-month or one-year course will receive an attendance certificate and a certificate of the results achieved in each subject studied, which also specifies the credits awarded.
Short and intensive courses are organized in the summer period (July/September), and other courses are suggested in the “Combined Courses” section. A short intensive course is usually programmed during the summer period.
The two-year course is the main course, and leads to the LAO Diploma, with a wide-ranging, complete programme, both practical and theoretical.
