Since 1985 the school is based in Firenze, and since 2006 a brach of the school had been opened in Lucca
The home of artists and craftspeople who have made it famous throughout the world, the Toscana region today is still rich in exceptional craftsmanship, and preserves a human dimension that attracts thousands of the young and not-so-young from all parts.
The school inherits the Renaissance spirit of the region, but does not stop there: the great lesson of the past is re-launched, and the teaching staff take into account needs linked to changing customs, new technology, knowledge of materials and the requirements of the students that attend the courses.
In Firenze the school’s premises are in Via dei Serragli, and have three workshops, a gemmology classroom, a CAD studio and three other classrooms for design and theory lessons.
In Lucca the school has prestigious premises in a historic mansion, right next to the famous Guinigi Tower. Two workshops, a large room for meetings, conferences, lessons and seminars, offices and a magnificent view over the rooftops of the city.
In Lucca the school organizes advanced courses, Masters and workshops with artists and designers.
The school's labs are equipped like manufacturing workshops, and have
a great amount of the specific tools for all the students; a lost-wax casting unit, ultrasound
cleaners, and all necessary furniture for group and individual work.
The Gallery
In Lucca the school manages a gallery for contemporary jewellery, that is particularly charming and hosts goldsmiths, artists, designers and students from all over the world for one-man and collective exhibitions.
The gallery was founded through the instigation of Giò Carbone, and is dedicated to jewellery seen as ornament for the body, expression of a creative personality and the result of continuous experimentation with form, materials, techniques and contents.
The Library
For both our own students and those from other schools or universities, Le Arti Orafe has set up one of the most extensive Italian libraries dedicated to jewellery: our collection of books, manuals, catalogues and magazines from all over the world comprises more than 1000 volumes.
